Belarus win 23 medals at U16 athletics meeting in Moscow

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) - Belarusian athletes have won over 20 medals at the U16 Track and Field International Meeting, held at the CSKA sports complex in Moscow, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Athletics Federation.

The event featured more than 130 athletes born in 2011-2012 from Belarus and Russia, who competed for medals in 23 disciplines. The Belarusian team’s tally consists of seven gold, eight silver, and eight bronze medals.

Victories in Moscow were secured by Gleb Gundilovich (60 m), Artyom Drozdov (60 m hurdles), Vyacheslav Budnitsky (3000 m), Mikhail Krivochenko, Kira Volzhenkova (both in shot put), Yaroslav Artemenko, and Karina Novikova (both in the triathlon). For most of the Belarusian athletes, this international event was their first tournament held outside the country.
