BEIJING, 11 February (BelTA) – Belarusian biathletes missed out on the Women's 7.5km Sprint medals at the ongoing 2022 Beijing Games, BelTA has learned.
Leader of the Belarusian team Dzinara Alimbekava produced accurate shooting in the prone position and missed one in the standing. The 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic champion finished 15th clocking 22:12.8. Hanna Sola missed four targets to finish 26th (1:52.1 behind the winner). 2018 Olympic champion Iryna Leshchanka placed 60th, 2:48.2 back, with three penalties. Elena Kruchinkina was 70th, 3:25.8 back, with four penalties.
Marte Roeiseland of Norway, the overall World Cup leader, shot clean to claim gold in 20:44.3. It is her second gold of the Beijing Games after her success in the mixed relay. She also won bronze in the individual race. Silver went to Elvira Oeberg of Sweden, 30.9 seconds back, with clean shooting. Italy's Dorothea Wierer took bronze, 37.2 seconds back, with clean shooting.
On 12 February, the Olympic track in Zhangjiakou will host the Men's 10km Sprint. Belarus will be represented by Olympic silver medalist Anton Smolski, Mikita Labastau, Dzmitry Lazouski and Maksim Varabei.
