MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Belarus highly values its long-standing strategic partnership with China, Belarusian Culture Minister Ruslan Chernetsky said while speaking at a concert during the Happy Spring Festival 2026 event at the Minsk’s Palace of Culture of Trade Unions on 13 February, BelTA has learned.
The minister noted that the event is a vivid confirmation of the strength of the cultural bridges connecting Belarus and China. He emphasized that the Republic of Belarus highly values its long-standing strategic partnership with the People’s Republic of China, built on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and consideration of mutual interests.
“It is worth noting that our mutually beneficial cooperation is primarily built on the trust and friendship between the leaders of our countries: Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Our countries have built a robust architecture of interaction, encompassing fruitful cooperation in all key areas,” the minister said.
Ruslan Chernetsky pointed to the dynamically developing cultural ties between the two countries. “To date, a solid and multi-level foundation for comprehensive cultural cooperation has been formed between our states. We have a full range of necessary conditions – from the regulatory and legal framework enshrined in intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements to a developed network of informal contacts, friendly and personal ties. All this creates unique opportunities to further deepen cultural dialogue and strengthening mutual understanding between our peoples,” the minister believes.
“Our artistic groups actively and permanently tour China. For example, just last year, the Bolshoi Theatre of Opera and Ballet successfully gave concerts in 12 Chinese cities, and the National Theatre of Belarusian Drama staged seven performances in Shanghai,” he added.

Ruslan Chernetsky also said that landmark exhibitions are held in museums of Belarus and China, emphasizing the strong cultural connection between our peoples. For instance, Shanghai hosted the exhibition titled as With the Blood of the Heart about Belarusian frontline writers, while in Minsk, the National Historical Museum displayed the unique exhibition The Thread of Fate. Belarus – China, which for the first time featured postcards and photographs of Northern China from private collections, as well as gifts from Chinese delegations and a collection of numismatic and banknote items from the funds of the National Historical Museum of Belarus.

According to the minister, the development of cinematic dialogue between Belarus and China deserves special attention.
“Chinese masters of screen art have long and firmly secured a worthy place in the program of the Minsk international film festival Listapad. A particular milestone was the second Chinese Cinema Day held within the festival’s framework. This event is certainly acquiring the status of a good tradition, enriching the festival’s palette with genuine masterpieces of Chinese cinematography and strengthening the cultural bridges between our countries. In turn, Belarusian cinema is confidently gaining recognition in China. A vivid confirmation of this is the success of the film The Black Castle by the national film studio Belarusfilm, which was awarded a prestigious prize for best production design at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Film Festival in Chongqing,” the head of the ministry stated.

Furthermore, the minister noted that nearly one thousand Chinese students are studying in Belarusian cultural institutions.

“Various educational programs are being implemented with Chinese partners, and summer schools are organized to introduce Belarusian culture. Every student, every joint project, every cultural meeting lays the foundation for a long-term partnership based on mutual respect and a sincere interest in each other’s spiritual values,” the Belarusian culture minister summarized.
