Belarus, Abu Dhabi plan joint volleyball development projects

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) - During a visit of a Belarusian volleyball delegation to the UAE, Secretary General of the Belarusian Volleyball Federation Alla Teterina met with Khamis Obaid Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Al Ain Club for Sports Games Company, BelTA learned from the press service of the federation.

The parties discussed cooperation in the development of volleyball in Belarus and the emirate of Abu Dhabi, exchanged the draft agreements on partnership. “Thanks to the initiative of the President's Sports Club, the countries began to develop cooperation in the field of volleyball. Belarus will be extremely interested in the exchange of experience," Alla Teterina said. “The Emirati partners are very interested in the development of women's volleyball. There is no women's volleyball team there yet, but they are actively working on this. They also showed interest in our experience in training children. In Abu Dhabi, they know about the Belarusian junior volleyball teams as as one of the strongest in the world,” she added.

The parties are planning to hold joint training camps and tournaments, exchange delegations. The possibility of Belarusian athletes' taking aprt in the UAE championship was also discussed.

Gomel Energia has held friendly matches with UAE teams. The Belarusians won the first match against Al Wahda 3:0 (25:20 25:13 25:11) but lost the second to Al Ain 1:3 (23:25 26:24 16:25 22:25).

The visit of the Belarusian volleyball delegation to the UAE was made possible thanks to a memorandum of cooperation between the President's Sports Club and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
