MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) - The US Open women's singles draw of this year's final Grand Slam event has been released in New York, BelTA has learned.
No.9 seed Aryna Sabalenka will face fellow Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, ranked 41 in the world, in the first-round encounter. Victoria Azarenka is a two-time US Open finalist.
Belarus' world number 45 Aliaksandra Sasnovich will take on World No. 65 Jennifer Brady of the United States.
The total prize money at the 2019 US Open is $57.2 million. Winners in the men's and women's singles events will make a record $3.85 million each.
The tournament will be held on the Flushing Meadows courts from 26 August to 8 September.
