MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 50 Victoria Azarenka has failed to progress to the semifinal at the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL presentado por HSBC, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian lost 4-6, 6-4, 5-7 to World No.35 Sofia Kenin of the United States in a nail-biting quarterfinal that lasted for two hours and 34 minutes.
Victoria Azarenka took a confident win over U.S. world number 25 Danielle Collins 6-1, 6-2 in the opener and cruised past Germany's world number 69 Tatjana Maria 6-2, 6-1 in the second round.
In the women's doubles event Victoria Azarenka and Zheng Saisai of China have advanced to the semifinal.
