2019 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships: Samsonov, Platonov into round of Last 32

MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Belarus' Vladimir Samsonov and Pavel Platonov advanced to the round of Last 32 at the Liebherr 2019 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships in Budapest, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian duo beat Chile's Gustavo Gomez and Juan Lamadrid 4-2. The Belarusians will next play the Chinese tandem of Lin Gaoyuan and Liang Jingkun.

In the men's singles opener leader of the Belarusian national team Vladimir Samsonov will face Australia's Hu Heming. Pavel Platonov will take on France's Emmanuel Lebesson, Vadim Yarashenka will play Lei Kou of Ukraine.

In the women's singles Belarus' Darya Trigolos and Nadezhda Bogdanova will take on Chinese players.

The Liebherr 2019 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships in the Hungarian capital will be over on 29 April. Over 600 players from 109 countries are competing for medals in five nominations.

Table tennis makes part of the 2nd European Games in Minsk. A total of 128 athletes will compete in five medal events on 22-29 June.
