Ways to expand cultural, humanitarian ties in Union State discussed

MOSCOW, 20 August (BelTA) – Plans to further expand cultural and humanitarian ties in the Belarus-Russia Union State were discussed at a meeting between State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev and Belarus' Culture Minister Anatoly Markevich on 20 August, BelTA learned from the Union State Standing Committee.

“The parties discussed initiatives to preserve the common historical memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the fight against fascism and counteracting attempts to falsify history. Special attention was paid to cooperation between museums of Belarus and Russia and implementation of joint exhibition projects,” the Standing Committee said.

The parties also discussed a project to put together a new exposition dedicated to the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War within the framework of the Victory Train historical and educational project.

"Issues of further restoration, reconstruction, museumification of the buildings in the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex with the financial assistance of the Union State were also on the agenda of the meeting," the Standing Committee added.
