Volfovich: National security system fulfills its role in Belarus

MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) - There is peace and tranquility in Belarus, which means that the national security system fulfills its role, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told the media ahead of the international conference “Ensuring National, Regional and International Security: Current Issues and Solutions” on 1 April, BelTA has learned.

“If we have peace and security in our country today, if we can let our children outside safely today, [it means that] the national security system fulfills its role. The structures, which are part of the national security system, fulfill the tasks assigned to them, despite any risks and challenges,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.

According to him, issues related to ensuring national security are at the top of the agenda. The geopolitical situation is changing. Trends, unfortunately, are developing in a negative direction. All this leads to global negative consequences. Therefore, everything related to the issues of national security is very important and concerns both the population of the country and the people who deal with these issues.

According to the state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, today much attention is paid to cyber security issues: the relevant risks and challenges have a negative, dangerous trend.

“Today we will listen to what our experts, our scientists will share with us, because science and security issues are inextricably and closely linked. We will listen to the participants of the conference, who have come from other countries. The conference has an international status. I think we will learn and hear a lot of new and interesting things that we will be able to adopt,” he said, adding that it would further improve the people’s safety.

The conference is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the National Security Academy of Belarus, Aleksandr Volfovich said. He also considers it symbolic that this beautiful anniversary date is celebrated in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

In his words, the year 2025 is a reminder that peace and security are the dearest things. “A lot of blood of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers was shed for our cloudless future. We should remember and appreciate it,” the state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus said, adding that close attention is paid the issues of historical memory in the country.
