
MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) – The Russia-Belarus light multipurpose aircraft Osvei project is in the works, Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry Dmitry Pantus told reporters at the 12th edition of the international arms and defense technology expo MILEX 2025 in Minsk on 21 May, BelTA has learned.
“Today, Russia is a strategic partner of our Armed Forces and the defense industry. We have developed very close integration ties. Today, Russia cannot do without Belarusian products when fulfilling state defense orders, and vice versa. We widely use their component parts within the framework of the defense industry cooperation programs,” said Dmitry Pantus.

Cooperation in aircraft manufacturing is making significant progress. The head of the State Authority for Military Industry cited the Osvei light multipurpose aircraft as a case in point. The project is in the works. It is at the stage of experimental design operations that are carried out together with Russian partners. Meanwhile, production capacities are being created on the territory of Belarus.

The chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry also reviewed the state of defense partnerships amidst the West’s sanctions. He named Russia and China the country’s key partners in this field.

“This trend remains unchanged for a long time. We are also deepening cooperation with the CIS countries, with countries of Africa, Southeast Asia and South America,” Dmitry Pantus informed.
