Stanevsky: Catholic believers in Belarus accept election of new Pope with great joy and hope

MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) -  Catholic believers in Belarus accept the election of new Pope Leo XIV with great joy, hope and filial devotion, Metropolitan of Minsk-Mogilev Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the Republic of Belarus, Chairman of the Conference of Catholic Bishops in Belarus Iosif Stanevsky said in his congratulatory message  posted on the website of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus, BelTA learned.

Chairman of the Conference of Catholic Bishops in Belarus, Archbishop Iosif Stanevsky sent congratulations to Pope Leo XIV on his election as the head of the Catholic Church. 

“From the bottom of my heart, on behalf of the Conference of Catholic Bishops in Belarus and the faithful of our country, I sincerely congratulate Your Holiness on your election to the Holy See. This event is deeply moving for the community of the Catholic Church and for the whole world, and we, the faithful of the Catholic Church in Belarus, accept the election of the new Pope with great joy, hope and filial devotion,” the letter of congratulations reads. 
Archbishop Iosif Stanevsky wished that God would lead the Pope on the path of this great mission.
