Restoring passenger traffic to pre-Covid level named among EAEU priorities

MOSCOW, 29 September (BelTA) – Resorting passenger traffic in the Eurasian Economic Union to the pre-Covid level is one of the priorities, official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission Iya Malkina told a briefing for the press in Moscow on 29 September, BelTA has learned.

Iya Malkina recalled that the EAEU Council of Heads of Authorized Bodies in the Field of Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the EAEU member states on 27 September. "According to the reports provided by the chief sanitary doctors, the incidence has lowered in Kazakhstan. The situation in other states remains unstable," she said.

"Taking into account the vaccination drive in the EAEU member states and also the increase in the number of people with natural immunity acquired as a result of the disease, the EAEU will be working to restore passenger traffic in full, to the pre-Covid level," the EEC representative emphasized. She recalled that Russia and Belarus fully restored the air service this autumn.

At a meeting on 5 October the EEC Council will consider a draft regulation to expand the opportunities for cross-border movement of citizens between the EAEU member states by all modes of transport, Iya Malkina added.
