MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – NATO's annual nuclear exercise is only escalating tension in the context the "hot war" in Ukraine, spokesman for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov told the media, TASS reported.
Dmitry Peskov commented on the two-week NATO Steadfast Noon exercise to practice the use of nuclear weapons, which began on 14 October. "Amid the ongoing ‘hot war’ within the framework of the Ukrainian conflict, such exercises lead to nothing but further escalation of tension," he stated.
Dmitry Peskov also noted that it is necessary to hold talks on nuclear arms reduction, taking into account the current state of affairs. "In the conditions of the war that is being waged against Russia with the indirect and even direct involvement of nuclear powers such as the United States, the UK and France, it is absolutely impossible to talk about this without linking the issue to all other aspects of security," the spokesman said.
