MP: Bill on introducing criminal liability for calls to sanctions is well-timed

MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – The bill on introducing criminal liability for calls to impose sanctions is well-timed, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission on State Construction, Local Government and Regulations of the House of Representatives Viktor Svillo told reporters, BelTA has learned.

The autumn session of the House of Representatives will open on 4 October. Its agenda already features 20 points. “This is not a final number, the agenda will be supplemented throughout the session. Right now, at least 15 issues are being finalized by standing commissions. Six issues, including a bill initiated by MP Oleg Belokonev, are proposed to be discussed in the first reading at the session. This bill suggests amending laws on criminal liability for calls to impose sanctions on our country,” Viktor Svillo said.

The MP recalled that the spring session passed a whole package of bills on strengthening the sovereignty of our country, the protection of the constitutional order and territorial integrity. “This bill presupposes a new edition of Article 361 of the Criminal Code and provides for the introduction of criminal liability for appeals to specific international organizations, individual states, or indiscriminately to take action leading to sanctions against our country, that is, actions that will cause damage to the national security. I think this bill is very relevant and it enhances our capacity to defend our country,” he added.
