Minister outlines efficient emergency response in report to Belarusian president

MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Today, I delivered a report on the nationwide work being carried out under challenging weather conditions, Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky told the media, BelTA has learned.

“The president was interested in several key areas. First, the heating and water supply for households. How it is being maintained, what breakdowns have occurred, and how their reliable rectification is ensured. The second area was the energy sector. This concerns issues related to the households and economic facilities. The third, most critical area is the work at agricultural facilities: how the aftermath of the snowfalls is being addressed, including on farms and at other sites.”

The president inquired how the Emergencies Ministry is coordinating the work of all state bodies and ensuring the response to various emergency situations.

“The head of state has been informed that all issues related to heating system failures in cities and all communities have been successfully resolved. There were 19 incidents, all of which were rectified within 24 hours. The only incident in the city of Minsk when the main heating pipeline failed was rectified within 36 hours, which complies with the standard repair timeframe for this type of incident,” he stated.

“Since the beginning of the year, there have been over 900 instances of power outages in populated areas, varying in duration. Energy sector workers have resolved these disruptions swiftly. To date, we can confirm that all populated areas and all economic facilities are connected to the power supply. There are no problematic issues in this regard,” Vadim Sinyavsky continued.

Furthermore, the minister noted that there were 12 cases of structural roof collapses. In eight instances, these were agricultural facilities, resulting in the death of seven calves; the remaining animals were rescued and relocated to other farms.

The head of the ministry emphasized that timely response measures were taken in all situations.

Additionally, he provided an update on fire safety amid the current challenging weather.
