Military expert: Belarus will support any peace agreements made by Russia

MINSK, 27 December (BelTA) - Belarus will support any peace agreements made by Russia, Andrei Bogodel, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Education and Science – Head of the Education and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces at the Military Academy of Belarus, said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Speaking about the global situation and the armed conflict in Ukraine, Andrei Bogodel noted that leaders of many collective Western countries continue to convince their publics that Belarus sides with an aggressor interested in continuing the war in the neighboring country. None of Minsk’s diplomatic efforts are taken into account, from visa-free travel to participation in the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine, such as when our country became the platform for signing the agreements to resolve the Donbass conflict in 2015. Subsequently, these Minsk agreements were violated by European countries. Aleksandr Lukashenko is called the last dictator in Europe in an attempt to create a negative image in the eyes of ordinary people.

Andrei Bogodel believes that all this is done deliberately. “The head of state immediately called it absolute nonsense to suggest that Belarus is not interested in restoring peace,” the expert emphasized. “We continue to be accused of being aggressors who, on the contrary, benefit from the continuation of the war. Why does this still happen? After all, all our actions, our entire policy, do not just demonstrate intentions; they demonstrate concrete steps we are taking to contribute to that very peace process.”

The EU views Belarus as inseparable from Russia and portrays both countries in a negative light when discussing the conflict in Ukraine. “The West has folded us into the ‘Russian world’. Whether someone likes it or not, they see us as a single unit. And the president [of Belarus], in principle, has never hidden this. Recall that during the CSTO summit, he said that we will support all peace agreements that Russia presents today. Not the USS, nor Europe, nor Ukraine, but precisely Russia. This is very important,” Andrei Bogodel stressed.
