MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) - The closure of the border by Lithuania is an absurd move, Detlef Bauer, a member of the Alternative for Germany party, told the media in Minsk on 10 November, BelTA has learned.
“The border closure by Lithuania seems more like nonsense. Perhaps they are doing this to get another extra million from the EU bodies,” Detlef Bauer speculated. He emphasized the importance of freedom of movement. Closing borders, he said, is more of a fight against the people than an attempt to prove something to anyone.
Detlef Bauer is in Minsk to participate in the Second Freedom Congress “For Peace and Development” organized by the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus. Here, he intends to meet with new people and establish contacts. Speaking about the overarching goal of his participation, it is peace in Europe.

The congress brought together participants from Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Egypt, India, Lithuania, Norway, Serbia, Slovakia, the United States, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, France, Switzerland, Montenegro, and Russia.
