MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Modern warfare has changed so much that robots are now fighting with robots, Head of the Russian Center for Military and Political Conflict Studies Andrei Klintsevich said in a recent episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“War is beginning to be measured by the number of drones and strike weapons that reach the front. Robots are effectively starting to fight robots. We’re seeing the most bizarre configurations. It’s no secret that there are drone motherships that fly in and release FPV drones. For example, in Sumy, which is quite a distance away, or in Zaporozhye, where we’re 15 km away, having skirted the Kakhovka Reservoir to the east.”

At the same time, the expert noted, a growing number of systems designed to counter drones are emerging. This includes laser systems, which have already been introduced into the Russian army. Andrei Klintsevich did not rule out the possibility of similar systems appearing in the arsenal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“We are seeing the widespread introduction of ground-based systems. These mobile platforms are designed primarily for logistics rather than combat. A unit can be dropped into the basement of a house and remain there for a considerable time. But supplying them with water or food becomes far more difficult, since the people or vehicles delivering it become targets,” he emphasized. “It would be an optimal solution to deploy a steady stream of self-propelled supply carts. But there simply aren’t enough of them. The front line is vast, and it requires an enormous amount of resources.”
