MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – Donald Trump’s behavior is often perceived as chaotic and unpredictable, but this may not be his weakness, but rather a calculated strategy allowing him to maneuver in the political space, member of the Another Ukraine movement, former deputy of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada Spiridon Kilinkarov said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.

According to the expert, the so-called madman theory is quite applicable to Trump. “I am sure that this is the case, because Trump in the morning and Trump in the evening are two different Trumps,” he noted. The expert emphasized that such a strategy allows the current US president to create more options and influence within the political sphere. “In the morning he can make one political statement causing reverberations and consequences, and in the evening he can say the exact opposite - either to mitigate the effect of his earlier statement or to enhance it. In this way, he creates a leeway for himself,” Spiridon Kilinkarov explained.

He added that interaction with politicians like Trump is a serious challenge. “When we deal with a consistent politician, it is clear how the situation will develop. But this is very difficult with people like Trump. Today he says that he will support something, tomorrow he makes a U-turn. Today he can invite someone to the negotiating table, and tomorrow he bombs some facility. From this point of view, he is an unpredictable politician. On the one hand, this is his strength, because it is quite difficult to see through such a politician, but it is not easy to deal with such a person, and it is even more difficult to agree on something,” Spiridon Kilinkarov remarked.
