Governor comments on situation in Gomel Oblast amid snowfalls

GOMEL, 7 January (BelTA) - The situation in the region is stable, and all infrastructure is operating normally, Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko told the media following his report to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 7 January, BelTA has learned.

The main item on the agenda was the situation in the southeastern region in connection with heavy snowfall and an approaching cyclone. The governor reported on how work was organized to ensure the stable operation of infrastructure and the clearing of streets and major transport routes.
In his report to the head of state, the governor outlined the current situation in Gomel Oblast, taking into account the heavy snowfalls on the night of 6-7 January. A meeting of the emergency commission was held the day before. “All resources necessary for clearing national and regional roads, as well as roads in populated areas, and for maintaining infrastructure, have been deployed. I reported to the president that the situation in the region is currently stable, and all infrastructure is operating normally. Everything is under the control of the relevant agencies, including the Emergencies Ministry, the State Traffic Inspectorate, and the Internal Affairs Directorate.
