Fairy-tale characters welcome truckers at Belarusian-Latvian border

VITEBSK, 30 December (BelTA) – It is the second time the Vitebsk branch of the State Customs Committee of Belarus has arranged a New Year event, during which the fairy-tale characters Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) greeted drivers of semi-trucks at the Belarusian-Latvian border, BelTA has learned.

Drivers crossing the Belarusian-Latvian border at the Urbany border checkpoint in Braslav District and in the Grigorovshchina border checkpoint in Verkhnedvinsk District were in for a surprise. Customs service officers dressed up as Ded Moroz and Snegurochka greeted and saw off the trucks. The New Year event was as successful as the one arranged several years ago.

The truckers did not remain indifferent, showed genuine emotions, and were happy to see Ded Moroz and Snegurochka despite their age (many of the truckers were 40-50 years old). They enthusiastically took next year's predictions out of Ded Moroz's sack. They stood in line to take a selfie with the bearded old man from fairy-tales. The winter wizard assured the truckers that happiness, luck, and a lot of good things await everyone in 2021. The drivers received calendars and souvenirs as a token of remembrance.

Ded Moroz and Snegurochka also delivered New Year greetings to all the personnel of the customs clearance stations. The fairy-tale characters wished the officers success in their hard work and more positive things. They also went to see school students in Verkhnedvinsk. The kids received all kinds of sweets and souvenirs as gifts from Ded Moroz and Snegurochka. In turn, the guests received postcards made by children.
