"On Point"
MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov (2010-2014) explained the position of the deep state and noted a declining interest in preserving peace in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
According to the politician, the global situation, including the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, depends to some extent on the deep state. “I believe these are primarily the masters of the world, the owners of financial capitals, the military-industrial complex, mass media, and so on,” he stated.
Nikolai Azarov also shared his observations regarding the diminishing value of peace in recent decades. “It is quite obvious: after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the trend towards settling the world’s most critical problems sharply declined in some respects. This applies to restrictions on both deadly nuclear weapons and means of attack and defense. The very essence of the arms race lies in the rivalry between offensive and defensive capabilities. Hence, any settlement must be comprehensive and cover all aspects,” he said.
The expert pointed out that now there is virtually “no interest left in preserving and strengthening peace.” “In one of his speeches, Vladimir Putin proposed extending what is practically the last agreement of its kind. That is, the most significant peacekeeping project is being put forward and there is virtually zero attention to it. There is no reaction, no interest. There is no media coverage. Yes, Trump said something: maybe he is interested, maybe not. Yet not a single so-called world leader supported it, got involved, or took notice. Although this is an urgent international concern: preventing all countries from descending into global war,” he concluded.
