"On Point"
MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – The conflict in the Middle East will lead to the collapse of the United States’ international reputation, Mikhail Delyagin, Deputy Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Russian State Duma and Doctor of Economics, said in a new episode of BelTA’s V Teme [On Point] project.
“The Americans have approached most of their conflicts in a similar way to a surgical operation: entering quickly and exiting just as fast. And everything went very well until the moment came to leave. That is when the circus began. [Donald] Trump is already saying he is ready to withdraw. But if they simply pull out, it will be the collapse of America and the collapse of its international reputation. In other words, from a global policeman the Americans will turn into a mere terrorist-destroyer. [Donald] Trump will not be able to withdraw, because Israel is a religious value for him. This is something that should be taken very seriously,” Mikhail Delyagin emphasized.
In his view, the further development of the situation in the Middle East will depend on Iran’s internal resilience, which is difficult to objectively assess.
“The fog of war: we do not know what their margin of safety is, what condition their industries and logistics chains are in. There are many local factors. We simply do not know a great deal,” the expert concluded.
