Expert explains fundamental priority of Belarus’ 2026-2030 development program

MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) - In a new episode of BelTA’s Nation Speaks project, Aleksei Avdonin, Chairman of the Board of the national state-public association Belarusian Knowledge Society, named the fundamental priority of the country’s social and economic development program through 2030. The document is slated for approval at the second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress.

A principal feature of the social and economic development program involves incorporating the technological breakthroughs that the world economy is currently experiencing. “We remember the Kodak and Nokia effect: the leadership of these giants ignored technology, fell into managerial myopia, and lost their market, turning into losers. We, however, place technology among our key priorities: we study them deeply and implement them here. Without this, nothing can be achieved,” Aleksei Avdonin said.

At the same time, the expert noted that the world is currently in a deep crisis of overproduction. “Technological leaps have accompanied capitalism for the last 400 years - an era where goods are produced not for oneself but for sale, giving rise to commodity-money relations. Capital has always implemented technology to reduce costs and replace manual labor with machines, producing more goods per unit of time. This inevitably leads to a crisis of overproduction: there are plenty of goods, but fewer and fewer buyers with money,” he said.

Aleksei Avdonin also pointed out that export-oriented Belarus must adopt technologies as quickly as possible. “We need to develop our own. The president pays enormous attention to the work of the Academy of Sciences and scientists,” the expert said. “Whoever masters technology and science determines the future, revenue, and profit.”

According to him, Belarus is implementing accessible technologies and accelerating its own developments to produce new goods and services. “This will fill the domestic market, displace Western corporations, and allow us to promote our products to the CIS, EAEU, SCO, BRICS, i.e. to our partners and allies around the world,” Aleksei Avdonin said.
