MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) - The air defense systems proved effective during the combat readiness test of Belarus’ Armed Forces, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

Following the president's instruction, the State Secretariat of the Security Council of Belarus initiated a combat readiness test of the Armed Forces on 24 March.

"The air defense systems were put to the test. We conducted a large-scale exercise to evaluate their ability to detect and respond to enemy aircraft. We tested new techniques, deployed a new surveillance system, created temporary defense zones and more. Our air defense performed quite effectively," Pavel Muraveiko noted. "The command units worked well together, and the technical infrastructure they established and deployed, covering Belarus with a network of observation and radar posts, allows us to monitor the airspace. The actions of the anti-aircraft missile forces and aviation demonstrated that the units are ready to fulfill their tasks."

A series of measures will be undertaken to assess objective control, but according to Pavel Muraveiko, the impressions and perception of the actions are very positive. He was alongside the commander managing the combat operations, which allowed him to personally evaluate them. "These are confident, coordinated and reliable actions that make us proud of our well-prepared air defense system," he concluded.
