
MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) - The development of multilateral military cooperation was discussed at a meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS member states in Minsk on 24 September, BelTA has learned.
On 24 September, Minsk played host to a regular meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS member states. The meeting brought together delegations from the general staffs of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.


The parties analyzed the military-political situation in the Eastern European region and along the borders of the CIS, assessing contemporary challenges and security threats. In the context of the international situation, particular attention was paid to regional stability and national security, and also the further development of cooperation in defense and military domains.
Additionally, the heads of the general staffs reviewed the progress in implementing the concept of military cooperation among CIS member states up to 2025. During the discussion, it was noted that the joint activities within the framework of the CIS Defense Ministers Council were in sync with national interests and the shared priorities of the CIS member states and aimed to achieve a new level of interaction in the military avenue.

The meeting participants reviewed the results and outlined the prospects for the development of the joint air defense system, taking into account 30 years of operational experience. The meeting also summarized the outcomes of Combat Commonwealth 2025, a joint live-fire exercise of the CIS member states' unified air defense system troops held in Kazakhstan. Furthermore, the parties summarized the experience of developing cooperation within the framework of the unified system for monitoring and assessing the radiological, chemical, and biological situation, and identified the avenues for further development of its national segments.
The chiefs of the general staffs endorsed approaches to incorporate the experience of conducting military operations in modern conditions into the operational and combat training of troops.


Following the meeting, the parties adopted decisions to develop the system of multilateral military cooperation, taking into account national and common interests.
“The outcomes of the meeting once again confirm the relevance of our format of military cooperation for enhancing interaction among the armed forces and maintaining stability across the CIS,” Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister of the Republic of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko said.
