MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) - The 20th meeting of the CIS Advisory Council of Heads of State (Executive) Authorities Managing State Material Reserves is taking place in Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan on 3-4 September. CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev has sent his greetings to the participants of the meeting, BelTA learned from the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee.
“Over the past 20 years of operation, the Advisory Council has become an effective tool aimed at strengthening food security and economic integration in the region. Its meetings are a popular platform for discussing issues of improving the mechanisms of functioning of the state material reserves bodies,” Sergei Lebedev said. “Material values of the state reserves in the CIS member states have been repeatedly used to provide necessary humanitarian aid to the people of the CIS countries and far abroad.”
The multilateral interaction of the bodies of state material reserves within the framework of the Advisory Council helps solve many serious issues promptly in the working mode, the secretary general emphasized. “Your coordinated and purposeful work contributes to the fulfillment of urgent social and economic tasks in the CIS space,” he added.
Taking part in the meeting are representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee. On 3 September the participants of the meeting discussed a number of topical issues of cooperation. These included the management of state material reserves amid the conditions of global changes, the mobilization reserve of Kyrgyzstan and prospects for improving the system of state material reserves in general; the activities of the specialized basic organization, and others. Special attention was paid to the progress made by the Advisory Council to implement the decision of the CIS Economic Council of 22 September 2023 regarding the activities of the CIS sectoral cooperation bodies in the economic sector in 2018-2023.
