BSU, Dalian University of Technology open laboratory of industrial equipment and instruments

MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – Belarusian State University (BSU) and Dalian University of Technology have opened a joint Belt and Road Laboratory of Industrial Equipment and Instruments. The opening ceremony took place during the third meeting of the Association of Universities of Belarus and China, BelTA has learned.

According to BSU Rector Andrei Korol, projects to strengthen inter-university cooperation are implemented annually with this Chinese partner. “One of them has been presented today at this large-scale event: the joint BSU-DPU Belt and Road Laboratory of Industrial Equipment and Instruments. The laboratory's activities are aimed at long-term research collaboration between the universities in computational mechanics, industrial equipment design using engineering software, aerospace technologies, optoelectronic devices and systems, plasma physics, and transport system design,” he said.

According to the rector, China is one of BSU's strategic partners. This is confirmed by the positive trend of increasing agreements with the country over the past three decades. “Nearly 20% of all BSU's international agreements are with Chinese partners. We see a particular interest from Chinese youth in our university. Currently, about 3,800 Chinese citizens are studying with us. Work is actively underway to implement new joint educational programs, scientific research, and conferences,” Andrei Korol said.

Among the standout examples of effective partnership, the rector cited the opening of joint institutes with Dalian University of Technology in 2017 and 2019, the establishment of comprehensive strategic cooperation with Peking University, and the work of the BSU Confucius Institute of Sinology.
