GOMEL, 25 February (BelTA) – The Belorusneft project in Ecuador is creating conditions for technology transfer between Belarus and Latin American countries, Belorusneft Director General Aleksandr Lyakhov told journalists in the run-up to the company’s 60th anniversary, BelTA has learned.

He noted that with the support of the Belarusian state and personally President Aleksandr Lukashenko, the company succeeded in entering the Latin American market in 2007. “These are projects in Venezuela and Ecuador. Today our company is actively developing the project in Ecuador. At the moment, new wells are being drilled in that country,” he said.
“We are successfully cooperating with state-owned companies in Ecuador, primarily with the national company Petroecuador. We aim to ensure that this project, which once began thanks to the initiative of our head of state, continues to develop and becomes a project that delivers productive results in oil and gas extraction, economic benefits, and creates conditions for technology transfer between our country and Latin American states,” Aleksandr Lyakhov stressed.
Speaking about export services, the director general noted that the Belorusneft Sibir company in the Russian Federation has an annual order portfolio exceeding $100 million. “We plan to further expand our oil-service potential in our closest neighbor. We see that the services of Belorusneft Sibir are in demand. Our main customers are leading state-owned companies of the Russian Federation, such as Rosneft and Gazprom,” he emphasized.

The Belorusneft production association was established in 1966. The company conducts exploration, prospecting, and development of oil fields, drilling of wells, and extraction of oil and associated petroleum gas in Belarus, and operates in the oil sector of other countries. Today Belorusneft employs more than 27,000 people across three continents. The enterprise carries out more than 40 types of activities, from seismic exploration to agricultural services.
