MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) - Belarusian State University (BSU) plans to open branches in China, BelTA learned from the press service of the university.
Such a possibility was discussed during the official visit of a delegation of Belarusian State University headed by Rector Andrei Korol to China. “Today the Belarusian university is implementing the Belarusian-Chinese project ‘Institute of Innovative Education’ jointly with the Hainan Center of Excellence in International Education (Sanya). This collective initiative is focused on cooperation between the two countries in education, export of educational services, and attracting more Chinese citizens to Belarusian universities. The institute is also expected to involve other universities, including foreign ones. At the moment, Chinese citizens from Hainan Province are preparing for BSU admission exams and taking courses in the Russian language,” the press service said.
Andrei Korol, Chinese partners and the leadership of the Sanya city administration discussed the key topic of granting the legal entity status to the Institute of Innovative Education and its reorganization into a branch of BSU in China. The meeting was also attended by Sergei Pishchov, Head of the Vocational Education Department at the Education Ministry of Belarus.
“A positive solution to the initiative would deepen cooperation between the countries and promote coordinated development of science and technology education in Belarus and China. We have already seen a wide interest in the Institute's activities among the academic community. Since September, schools in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing, provinces of Yunnan, Guangdong, Hebei, Shaanxi, Shandong, Henan, Fujian, Zhejiang, the Autonomous Region of Ningxia and others have become partners of the Institute. The establishment of the branch will bring international educational cooperation to a brand new level and expand the interaction, including through the introduction of BSU's practices in innovative education to Chinese universities. Belarusian State University has been actively developing the heuristic method of teaching for seven years. It is focused on the technologies that provide individualized learning for students and create conditions for their self-realization," the BSU said.
It is expected that the branch will intensify the work on a number of areas, including the programs to provide joint Russian/English language training to Chinese applicants using information and communication technologies, academic exchange programs, joint educational forums, public lectures, and business initiatives within the framework of Belarusian-Chinese relations in economy and industry.
The Belarusian delegation is set to meet with the leadership of Chongqing College of International Business and Economics, East China Normal University, Hainan College of Software Technology. The parties are expected to approve a package of documents regulating the interaction between the two sides in education, science, joint projects, preparation of publications and advanced training courses for teachers.
