Belarusian pedagogues to discuss education digitization on 23 August

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – The main tasks and avenues of development with regard to the digital transformation of the education system will be discussed at a national teaching staff meeting on 23 August, representatives of the Operations and Analysis Center under the President of the Republic of Belarus told BelTA.

The teaching staff meeting has been organized with assistance of the Operations and Analysis Center and the Education Ministry. The teaching staff meeting is supposed to become an effective dialogue platform for discussing topical aspects of the digital transformation of the education system and for working out strategic decisions in this sphere. Representatives of government agencies and organizations working in the area of information and communication technologies as well as representatives of the national education system from all parts of the country will take part in the teaching staff meeting.

Participants of the meeting are expected to discuss data security, digital signature applications in educational institutions, the use of modern IT solutions in the sphere of education, and other matters the platform is meant to take care of. In particular, a universal information and education website, which has been developed to provide support to distance learning students and will be commissioned on 1 September 2021, will be presented during the teaching staff meeting. This resource is supposed to help study teaching material in all academic disciplines.

Participants of the meeting will also discuss the legality of using certain foreign IT products in education. The security of personal data of Belarusian citizens during video conferencing will be discussed. “Since the relevant servers are located outside the Republic of Belarus, we are talking about law violations and additional threats to information security,” the Operations and Analysis Center said.

Attention will be drawn to provisions of the law on protecting personal data, which will come into force on 15 November 2021.

Participants of the teaching staff meeting will also discuss the creation of a Belarusian computerized educational environment as one of the most important components in digitizing the education system. Successful and timely implementation of this project is of paramount importance for the consequent development of the entire education system in Belarus.
