Belarusian health resort industry sees steady demand in 2024

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – Customer numbers of Belarusian medically-focused health resorts exceeded 1.5 million in 2024, Deputy Director of the Belarusian national center of health resort treatment and recuperation Aleksandr Tsai told the media, BelTA has learned.

"Last year was the most successful for our system,” Aleksandr Tsai said. “For the first time customer numbers exceeded 1.5 million people. Of them over 760,000 people were fully paying customers.”

There is a wide network of medical-focused health resorts and recreation centers in Belarus, Aleksandr Tsai informed. It includes 287 facilities with more than 61,000 bed space, of which 97 facilities (with more than 27,000 bed space) are medically-focused health resorts.

"The government makes sure health improvement services are accessible to Belarusians and finances vouchers, primarily for children. Last year the state allocated over Br252 million for this purpose. More than 807,000 citizens used the vouchers. About 70% of the designated financing was allocated for children's health improvement services," Aleksandr Tsai noted.

These institutions continuously work to improve their physical and medical infrastructure and to offer as many services as possible. Last year they offered 59 new health improvement programs designed for different lengths of stay.

"Almost all our health resort organizations are multi-purpose, which makes services affordable for all,” Aleksandr Tsai said. “Such physiotherapeutic techniques as carboxytherapy, oxygen therapy, ozone therapy, mineral therapy are growing in popularity. So are cosmetology programs,” he added.
