Belarus' scientific potential presented on Sardinia

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Belarusian Science Days are in progress on Sardinia on 4-9 June with assistance of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), BelTA learned from Giuseppe Carboni, Belarus' Honorary Consul in the city of Cagliari, Sardinia.

According to the source, tight friendship and business contacts between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Sardinian organizations have been growing stronger since they were established. Agreements on cooperation with the Cagliari University, the aerospace consortium of Sardinia, and the island's R&D park Porto Conte Ricerche are a testimony to these strong relations, noted Giuseppe Carboni.

Chief Academic Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexander Kilchevsky presented Belarus' scientific potential on Sardinia upon the invitation of the Honorary Consulate of Belarus. Alexander Kilchevsky also leads the Belarusian delegation. Members of the delegation met with Giovanna Medde, Head of the International Relations Department of the Sardinia Province government.

Advancement of cooperation with the Cagliari University will be discussed during official talks involving the university's rector Maria Del Zompo, Prorector for International Cooperation Alessandra Carucci, and Prorector for Science Micaela Morelli and during meetings and negotiations in labs of research centers of the university.

Further advancement of cooperation in research projects relating to longevity and nutrigenomics will be discussed during the visit. The Belarusian delegation will visit a lab of the World Longevity Community. This organization has been established on Sardinia with a view to studying and evaluating longevity matters and advocating an active lifestyle among the elderly. Sardinia is one of the world's five regions with the largest number of long-living persons.

The Belarusian Science Days on Sardinia will be closed in the assembly hall of the Cagliari City Council of Deputies on 9 June.

The Belarusian Science Days have been arranged in association with the autonomous region of Sardinia, the Cagliari University, and the World Longevity Community under the aegis of the Embassy of Belarus in Italy.
