Belarus, Russia to expand cooperation in education

NOVOPOLOTSK, 28 June (BelTA) – During the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, the two countries signed 16 agreements and memorandums of cooperation in the field of education, BelTA has learned.

The participants of the panel session on education convened in one of the buildings of Polotsk State University. Students and young scientists presented their solutions and innovative projects in IT, historical research, and petrochemistry.

Representatives of Belarusian and Russian universities signed 16 agreements and memorandums of cooperation. The participants of the panel discussion emphasized the importance of training highly qualified personnel for the real sector of the economy. Student science, innovation and technology dominated the discussion as the parties charted out ways to align the two education systems. The best practices of Belarusian higher learning institutions can be useful to Russia and, accordingly, can be enhanced by innovations developed in Russia. The quality of education in both countries remains high partly due to continues work to foster personal growth of  students on multiple levels, to fulfill their scientific and creative potential.

The participants of the discussion also talked to the first Belarusian cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya.
