Belarus' PM votes early in presidential election

MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) - We should vote for deeds and results rather than for words and promises, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the media as he cast his ballot at polling station No. 39 in Minsk on the second day of early voting, BelTA has learned.

“It is clear that we should vote for deeds and results rather than for words and promises. We have never had it easy,” Roman Golovchenko noted. "We have little influence on the developments beyond our borders. Therefore, our task is to accomplish as much as we can inside our country, and we have already done a lot. Our results are noticeable. We vote for a stable, peaceful and developing Belarus.
When asked why he decided to vote early, Roman Golovchenko stressed that the main election day is the most important in the social and political life of the country over five years. Candidates “take an exam in front of people” on that day, the prime minister said. “It is very important to ensure that this day will be held in a calm, organized and festive manner. The entire power vertical is working within their areas of responsibility to ensure the stability of this most important social and political campaign,” the prime minister stated.
Early voting is taking place from 21 January to 25 January 2025. Early voting is meant for people who will not be able to come to polling stations on 26 January. During early voting, precinct commissions will work from 12:00 to 19:00 without a break.
