VITEBSK, 30 April (BelTA) – Local museums have prepared two new tours of Braslav District, BelTA learned from the association of museums of Braslav District.
Local museums are ready to offer new tours to Druya and Drisvyaty that are located near the Belarusian border. The cities are rich in history and architectural heritage. In Druya, tourists can get familiar with the local 17th-century Holy Trinity Church standing on the bank of the Western Dvina River. The excursion also includes a Boris stone, the Annunciation Church, a memorial to Jewish victims, and a Jewish cemetery. Drisvyaty boasts wooden Roman Catholic Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral and Orthodox Sts. Peter and Paul Church. The tour also features the “zero kilometer” of the modern European geodesy that was added to the list of local landmarks last year.
“We are currently working on another project and are planning to develop nostalgic tourism. This will be interesting to people who were born in Braslav District but moved elsewhere or those whose ancestors lived here or had connections with the district,” the association noted.
Braslav District is especially popular among tourists from Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Various tours of the district enjoy demand from visitors.
