MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ new military doctrine attaches great importance to the development of the defense industry, Vladimir Apolonik, the head of the second desk of the Information and Analysis Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, said in a new episode of BelTA’s The Nation Speaks project.
“The new military doctrine places a great emphasis on the development of the defense industry. Previously, it described certain areas of development in general terms. The new document spells them out in greater detail. The document specifies the sectors that the country needs to ramp up in order to improve the military capabilities of its armed forces,” Vladimir Apolonik said.
A separate chapter is devoted to military and technological cooperation with the allies of Belarus. “It specifies the areas of military and technological cooperation. They relate to both personnel training and the transfer of certain technologies. A military doctrine is a system of views, and here we determine whether we cooperate with our allies in the military sphere,” Vladimir Apolonik noted.
