Belarus’ FM shares his thoughts about elections in the West

GOMEL, 16 May (BelTA) - As soon as a true leader who stands up for his/her state and speaks about the needs of his/her citizens, enters an election campaign in the West, such a person is immediately removed from the race, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov told the media after his meeting with the activists of Gomel on 16 May, BelTA has learned.

The dialogue between the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs and the activists of the regional center focused, among other things, on the situation in the world and relations with Western neighbors. Speaking about the upcoming presidential election in Poland, Maksim Ryzhenkov emphasized: “We have long been convinced of the lack of independence of our neighbors' political elites in their activities. They are all puppets, so to speak, of the collective West.”

“If we are talking about the Baltic states, everything is obvious there. These people will keep investing money to the last in their own political campaigns and military-industrial capital. They will care least of all about education, healthcare, infrastructure for their citizens,” the minister emphasized.

“We see it all: people travel both the countries. You can find a lot of videos in the media on how people assess the situation in their countries, and how, coming to our country, they rejoice together with us at our successes. Many even move to live here. Among the people who come here are those who took part in the presidential elections in these states. These are politicians, whose voice is known and taken into account in their countries, but they are denied all opportunities for realization there,” the minister of foreign affairs said.

He drew attention to the way elections are currently taking place in the West. “As soon as a true leader who stands up for his/her state and speaks about the needs of his/her citizens, about the priority of the development of his/her state, about a restrained and more balanced foreign and domestic policy enters an election campaign in the West, such a person is immediately removed from the race with the help of various mechanisms of influence on this state from abroad (primarily on the order from Washington or Brussels), in violation of all norms of electoral law, political campaigns. They are placed under various mechanisms of legal control or, even worse, criminal prosecution,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said.

The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs met with citizens and activists of Gomel on 16 May. The program of the minister’s visit also included the familiarization with the manufacturing sector and discussion of Milkavita’s export operations.
