Belarus’ CEC: 23 foreign nationals accredited as independent observers

MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus has accredited 294 international observers, BelTA learned from the CEC.
 
The CIS election observation mission has 238 observers. Of them, 44 observers were sent by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, 12 by the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, 25 by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State, 4 by the Union State Standing Committee.
 
In addition to that, the CEC has accredited 11 observers from the central election bodies of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and 22 from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
 
A total of 23 representatives of foreign countries have been accredited as international observers. These are politicians, MPs, public figures from Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Lebanon, Poland, Serbia, France, Sweden, Switzerland, and Iran. According to the CEC, they act exclusively as independent observers.
