MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) - The USA knows very well what is happening on the front in Ukraine, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said while answering questions following his Address to the Belarusian people and Parliament on 18 December, BelTA has learned.
“In time, I will tell you how we conduct [negotiations with the USA], what advice we give regarding Ukraine and what we say to the Americans about Ukraine,” said the head of state. “But one must understand that the Americans are not fools. They come to me, and I unfold a map for them: ‘Here, look how far the Russians have advanced. You understand that the war must be stopped, or you will lose everything’.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the USA is very well informed about the situation on the front in Ukraine, receiving information including from satellites. “They have their own map, from space. The most precise map. An exact match. Therefore, they are not fools, they know what is happening on the front, they know better than us and the Russians what is happening in Ukraine. Trump’s latest rhetoric has turned to this topic. The topic of election. Zelensky needs to step down and hold elections. Otherwise there will be trouble,” the president said.
Nevertheless, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that he has not yet abandoned the thought that the Americans and Europeans might be staging a kind of performance regarding Ukraine. “To a large extent, this is not the casr. Because Trump cannot forgive Europe for the position they took during the election campaign and now. I know this for sure. But to what extent this weighs on him is hard to say. Therefore, if it’s not a performance, then this clash between the Americans and Europeans will continue,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
