Lukashenko sets work priorities for local authorities

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – The heads of the local authorities must be responsible for everything that happens in their territories and work closely with people, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he set out the priorities for the new appointees, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that he is well-informed about the state of affairs in specific districts and enterprises where new people have been appointed. While setting the work priorities for the local authorities, the president also drew upon the experience of his recent working trips to the country's regions, including to Shklov District of Mogilev Oblast where the chairman of the district executive committee was uncertain about the subordination of one agricultural enterprise. It is geographically located in the district but is subordinate to the Belarus Property Management Directorate. "It can be subordinate to anyone, but you are the ones ensuring personnel policy and order there. I want you to hear this,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the local authorities. In case of any questions, disagreements, or misunderstandings, the head of state advised contacting the president’s local representatives - aides and authorized representatives of the president.

“I want you to remember the main thing: there are no one else's enterprises, lands, bushes, or villages except yours. You are responsible for everything there. Private enterprises with the national level of subordination, or those that fall directly under your purview (of regional or district subordination)... You are responsible for all of them,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

Another aspect the president highlighted in the work of the local vertical is engagement with people. “Don't push people away, don't distance yourselves from them. I repeat: for our people, it's sometimes important to meet and talk. There's no need to feel superior to ordinary people. These are our people, we work for them,” the head of state noted.
