Lukashenko meets with Mongolian president in Ulaanbaatar

MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) - A meeting between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh began with an official welcome ceremony with the national anthems and a march-past of the honor guards dressed in historical costumes of Genghis Khan's era on the square in front of the State Palace in Ulaanbaatar, BelTA has learned.


Official negotiations with Mongolia President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh will take place in a narrow format and an expanded one. The parties are set to discuss promising areas of cooperation to maximize the potential of the Belarusian-Mongolian relationship. First of all, the discussion will focus on the possibilities of expanding cooperation in trade and economy, supplying the Mongolian market with food and industrial products by Belarusian manufacturers and joint work in the agricultural sector.

It is expected that following the talks, the parties will sign a number of documents to reinforce the foundation of bilateral cooperation.
The Mongolian-Belarusian Business Forum will be held in Ulaanbaatar as part of the state visit.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Mongolia were established on 24 January 1992. Embassies have been opened in both countries. In 2023, the trade amounted to $29.2 million, with Belarusian exports at $29 million. Belarus’ major exports to Mongolia were condensed and dried milk and cream, oil products, plastic containers, tractors, chipboard, confectionery, malt, cheese and cottage cheese, non-fat food products, chocolate and food products containing cocoa.

In 2023, the trade in services totaled $6.1 million, with a $2.9 million surplus for Belarus.
