MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) - Cilia Flores, the wife of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who was taken to the United States, was offered to remain in Venezuela, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a ceremony to present the Spiritual Revival awards in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
“They captured the president and told his wife: ‘You can stay here, we have no complaints against you.’ She said: ‘No, I'm going with him.’ I know [Cilia] Flores as a very courageous woman. She said: ‘I'm going to be with my loved one.’ They brought her to the United States, where they charged her with drug trafficking,” the head of state said.
“So this is the justice they have taught us all our lives. Did you like it? They never had truth or justice – not then, not now, and never will,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
