SOLIGORSK DISTRICT, 3 October (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed the importance of careful handling, timely maintenance and repair of expensive agricultural machinery, BelTA has learned.

“Farms constantly request agricultural equipment. But if we provide poorly managed farms with machinery, it will be destroyed in a year. Tractors and harvesters are very powerful and complex machines. That's why we need to carefully consider who should receive this equipment,” the head of state said.

He stressed that in some cases it might be better to allocate machinery to stronger farms, provided that they also help their neighbors who may not be able to manage it properly. “This must be placed under the strictest control,” the president emphasized.

The head of state pointed out that clear service life standards should be established: for example, 10 years for tractors, 12-15 years for harvesters, and 11-12 years for forage harvesters.

“We need to set clear standards. We don't need the situation where after three, five, or eight years the machine is written off and left to rust, because this means it has simply been ruined,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
