MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko announced his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and a visit to China as he hosted a meeting on the development of mechanical engineering in Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“I am having a meeting with Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in just a couple of days. We will discuss all the issues that need to be discussed at our level,” the head of state said.
“We agreed with Russia to synchronize our cooperation in the automotive industry and other sectors. I would ask you to strictly adhere to our agreements with the Russian Federation. You need to keep in mind that Russia, too, is having difficult times. We also agreed on the recycling fee. How is this being implemented today and do we have any problems with the Russian Federation?” the president asked.
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the coming year will be difficult for a number of reasons. “We need to deepen our presence on traditional markets. Hence, these visits to Oman, the Emirates, as well as an upcoming visit to China and so on. This is about diversifying our markets. The distant arc countries are our third export destination. This matter was on the agenda,” the Belarusian leader said.
A reminder, a summit of the Eurasian Economic Union and an informal meeting of CIS leaders are planned to be held in St. Petersburg at the end of December. It is very likely that Aleksandr Lukashenko meant these events when he spoke about the upcoming meeting with the president of Russia.
