Minsk, Bishkek discuss parliamentary dialogue interstate cooperation

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) - Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko met with Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Supreme Council) of the Kyrgyz Republic Marlen Mamataliev on the sidelines of a meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Moscow on 20 April, the press service of the House of Representatives told BelTA. 

The parties discussed key issues concerning the development of interparliamentary dialogue between Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. 

“Bishkek is a significant and promising partner for us in Central Asia,” Igor Sergeyenko said, emphasizing that much has been done in recent years. Active dialogue continues at the highest and high levels. 

“The leaders of our countries have set the task of increasing trade. To achieve this goal, the parties are currently implementing two roadmaps for cooperation development,” Igor Sergeyenko noted.The parties stated that joint efforts by Minsk and Bishkek to enrich parliamentary dialogue will further boost interstate cooperation.

Igor Sergeyenko stressed the need for deputies to actively take part in the work of the Intergovernmental Commission, business forums, and other exhibition and fair events. He also noted that maintaining contacts through parliamentary groups would be an effective mechanism. 

The parties also touched upon humanitarian cooperation. Igor Sergeyenko told Marlen Mamataliev that on 15 April, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed a directive to allocate funds for organizing recreation and health improvement for 272 children, including children from Kyrgyzstan, at the National Children’s Education and Health Center Zubrenok
