MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – It is important to preserve the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at a joint press conference following the annual meeting of the Russian-Belarusian ministerial collegium in Moscow on 10 November, BelTA has learned.
"I consider it extremely important to convincingly convey the truth about the war to a wide international audience, primarily young people. The attempts to falsify history and justify Nazi criminals have been increasing," the minister said.
What we see today is the shameless attempts to desecrate the memory of Soviet soldiers, to change the people's memory code with a view to justify and even glorify Nazism, he noted. "Together with our Russian colleagues, we will continue proactive work in international organizations to counter these cynical attempts," Vladimir Makei said.
