MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – A working meeting between Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Yuri Seliverstov and Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Taalatbek Masadykov took place on 5 March at the CSTO Secretariat, the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission told BelTA.
“The parties discussed the evolving military and political situation in the CSTO area of responsibility. They highly assessed the outcomes of Kyrgyzstan’s CSTO chairmanship in 2025 and reviewed the priorities of Russia’s current chairmanship,” the press service said.
Yuri Seliverstov emphasized that Belarus attaches great importance to its CSTO membership, contributes to enhancing its authority on international platforms, and constructively addresses issues related to improving the organization’s activities.
Taalatbek Masadykov supported the idea consistently promoted by the Belarusian side regarding the need to expand the information and analytical component in CSTO activities. He highlighted the important role of the Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security in the processes of developing a new architecture for global and regional security.
The parties also reviewed the schedule of upcoming contacts and events along CSTO lines at various levels. They discussed current issues of interaction between Belarus and the CSTO. “Consideration was given to key areas for the further development of the military component, improving the collective security system, and countering contemporary challenges and threats,” the CSTO press service noted.
