MOSCOW, 15 April (BelTA) - Belarus does not change its friends and is ready to support them, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevgeny Shestakov said on the sidelines of the 5th Belarus-Latin America forum in Moscow on 15 April when asked about how the geopolitical situation in Latin America affects Belarus’ interaction with partners in the region, BelTA has learned.
“As for our traditional friends: believe me, we closely monitor the situation in the region, we see the new challenges they are facing. But, as I said again at the forum, we traditionally do not change our friends. Therefore, we hope that all existing difficulties will be overcome. We are ready to provide them with full support and do everything we can, including within international organizations and through cooperation with our other partners. So I don’t think any major changes should be expected in Belarus’ strategy toward the Latin American region,” Yevgeny Shestakov said.
“The essence of Belarus’ strategy is to offer predictable, equal partnership. We hide nothing from anyone. As I emphasized, we supply not only equipment but also technologies, knowledge, and the skills needed to work with this equipment. In my view, this is extremely valuable today, especially when many Western manufacturers try to supply products without broadly sharing knowledge and technologies, focusing instead on their own service capabilities,” the deputy foreign minister added.
