MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) - Belarus is Russia’s closest ally and primary strategic partner, with an effective and intensive political dialogue established between the two countries, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov said in an interview with the Russian news agencyTASS.
“Belarus is our closest ally and primary strategic partner. We have built an intensive and highly effective political dialogue, clearly demonstrated by the unprecedented number of direct contacts between the heads of our states through regular in-person meetings and even more frequent phone conversations. This is in addition to the continuous, nearly real-time interactions at the level of governments, parliaments, ministries and departments,” he said.
The diplomat recalled that at the end of February, a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State will be held under the chairmanship of the presidents of Russia and Belarus. “I don't think anyone else in the world can boast such a level of coordination,” the ambassador emphasized.
Boris Gryzlov noted that Moscow and Minsk hold unified positions on all international issues. “We closely cooperate within integration associations (the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS) and international organizations, jointly advancing priority initiatives, including those related to shaping a new Eurasian security architecture. In 2024, Belarus, with Russia's support, became a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and also acquired the official status of a BRICS partner state. At the global level, it is precisely around such forums that the core of a new just world order is forming, and Minsk’s practical contribution to this work is highly valued,” the Russian Ambassador said.
According to him, in 2025 Belarus hosted 12 Russian delegations at the highest and high levels. “Regarding the embassy's work, over the past 12 months, our diplomats organized or participated in more than 400 events. Such a dense schedule is a direct consequence of the intensity of our joint work,” the Ambassador stated.
